Tour Stop: EMERGE (Evolve Series #1) by S.E. Hall ~ Review/Giveaway

Synopsis
Laney Walker is a quick witted, athletic, southern tomboy who lets few get too close, using her sarcastic zingers to deflect. She also has no idea how others view her, Evan having protected and coveted her since they were children. But college puts a gap between Laney and Evan that neither of them were prepared for- old relationships are tested, new ones are formed and nothing will ever be the same.

Especially when in walks one Dane Kendrick, not at all the familiar, southern charmer of home, but an animal all his own.

More than, and not just, a love triangle; a story of growing up, friendship, loyalty, first love, primal love...and life.

Excerpt
I jump out of bed and run to the shower. I take extra care straightening my hair, applying light makeup and selecting my outfit. I choose jeans and a black sleeveless top with black ankle boots that I dug out of Bennett’s closet. Basically, I dress unlike myself for Random Day: Laney with a dash of Bennett. I can’t help that my heart flutters when I hear the knock on the door.

When I open it, all moisture leaves my mouth and heads elsewhere. Dane stands before me in dark washed jeans, a tight white t-shirt, black boots and disheveled hair. He smells delicious, the light scent of cologne and freshness graces my senses from where he stands, and that half-cocked smile he wears as he peruses me is almost more than I can take. Full frontal awareness hits me—I’ve gone from never having a boyfriend to a full-on love triangle, head first.

“Well hello, Disney. You look like walking sin,” he says, sensuality dripping from every word. Make that a love hexapolyoctagon. I’m screwed.

Review ~ 5 Stars
I have certainly been lucky with the books lately. Emerge is an amazing story from start to finish. There were many times I had to tell myself to sit back and calm down because I found myself literally sitting on the edge of my seat. That doesn't happen often! S.E. Hall tells this story from three viewpoints, all three people in this crazy love triangle.

The book starts out with Laney Walker, the epitome of the girl next door, a no nonsense tomboy at the "ripe old age of ten." Laney's mom is not in the picture, but her and her dad have such an amazing father-daughter relationship, which I'm sure attributed to her tomboyish-ness. Evan Allen is the boy from down the street who has always had Laney's back, no matter what happened. Fast forward to their senior year in high school and Evan finally tells Laney how he feels. Evan is such a sweetheart doing everything he can to keep his Laney happy. They have a great relationship......for a few months, until they have to part ways to go to different colleges five hours apart. Laney decides they should just start out back as friends so no one gets hurt. Now let me tell you, this girl has won the boy lottery, because then comes Dane Kendrick, who is this mysterious, caring, wonderful man. I just don't know how in the world she can think straight with these two AMAZING guys vying for her attention. Dane challenges Laney in ways that she could never have imagined and the chemistry between the two of them is absolutely magical. In the end, she does make a decision, "It's crazy how a moment of instant clarity sneaks up on you and poof - you know exactly what you want. No doubts, no excuses, and no apologies."

This author has wowed me, I connected with all the characters. I know when S.E. Hall's next book is coming, I will be one of the first in line because this was amazing work and I'm sure there is more to come.
