Tour Stop: LET LOVE STAY by Melissa Collins ~ Review/Giveaway

Title: Let Love Stay
Author: Melissa Collins

Synopsis
If you’re lucky, you’ll fall in love – truly, madly and deeply in love.  But what happens when that honest and pure love isn’t enough to erase your fears?  What happens when your past rears its ugly head and threatens your future?

Maddy and Reid had that kind of love – the all-encompassing, Earth shattering, once in a lifetime kind of love.  Then life happened.  Old wounds that were thought to be long healed and scabbed over are ripped opened and they are forced to face the possibility that, maybe, they are not strong enough to fight their demons and embrace the light.

Together, they found out what love is, but now they will each need to heal on their own before they can ever be together again.  They must face their fears and beat down their pasts in order to find their way through this crazy uphill battle called love.

They’ve let love in, but now, they need to find out how to Let Love Stay.

Excerpt
He releases my hands so that he can brush my hair out of my face.  “I want to move past this, Maddy.  I want to get everything out in the open, so yeah, you making me face my family just because you were scared was really shitty and completely unnecessary.”  He runs his hands through his hair and sighs at me before saying, “I love you.  My God, do I love you and my love is not based on whether or not I can forgive my mother.”  He shifts in the bed so that he’s a bit closer to me and he grasps my hands again.  Pulling them up to his soft, full, sexy lips, he gazes intently into my eyes.

“Maddy, please understand me when I say this, I love you.”  He squeezes my hand lightly on each of his last three words.  “I wish I was smarter.  I wish I had more experience in this whole relationship thing.  I wish I could make you understand the weight of my words, but please, baby, please understand that the words ‘I love you’ don’t even come close to expressing how I feel about you.”  His eye contact never wavers; his grip on my hands never loosens.
He shifts again so that he’s now next to me and he pulls me into a tight embrace.  “The way you feel when we’re making love, when we’re together, that’s how I feel about you.  There are no words to express the love I feel when I’m with you.”  He kisses the top of my head, which is becoming my favorite place for him to kiss me – okay, fine, not my favorite, but it’s sweet nonetheless.

I place my head on his shoulder as my hand traces random patterns through the light spattering of hair on his chest.  The weight that has been hanging around us since he picked me up from work seems to have lessened, but only slightly.

About the author...
I’ve always been an avid reader.  Majoring in English Literature was a no brainer.  Becoming a teacher and instilling my love for reading into my students was also a no brainer.  I’ve spent the last ten years teaching and I’ve loved (mostly) every minute of it.  When I was home on maternity leave for my third son, I discovered a new genre that sparked my creativity.  My passion for writing sprang from my love of reading and once I knew I had a story to tell, I couldn’t wait to get it out there.  I only hope that my readers enjoy reading my story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Review
I loved this book! Let Love Stay continues the story of Maddy and Reid, and they definitely have their ups and downs. I had already read the previous book, Let Love In, and was looking forward to finishing their story...I was not disappointed.

Let Love Stay is told from both Maddy and Reid's viewpoints. Sometimes you wonder how everything could ever turn out alright, especially with all of the family issues that Reid is dealing with. My favorite quote from the book is about trusting yourself and knowing you have the power to change your life. "You just have to let it be. Love can be a very scary thing, but it can also be amazingly beautiful. It's up to you to make that choice."

There were a few times that I wanted to cry because of the trials these two had to work through, however, the ending made me tear up out of happiness. Let Love Stay is truly a feel good story, a story where everyone can live out their "perfectly imperfect happily ever after." I give Let Love Stay 5 Stars!!
