Excerpt

I stepped out of the shower and reached for the lone towel I kept in the rarely used bathroom. Wrapping it around myself, I realized I didn’t have any clothes down here. That meant I’d have to make a run for it.

Knowing my luck, I’d fall face first on the stairs.

Opening the bathroom door, I didn’t bother to look around; I just made a mad dash for the stairs. Halfway up, I heard a laughing Mace yell, “I’ve seen it before, baby. I’ve licked and tasted every inch of your perfect ass. Run all you like, I’ll catch you again.”

I had no doubt he’d try his damndest to do just that too. .

Stomping my way back down stairs after I dressed in my ugliest pajamas, hopefully turning Mace off, I heard the shower running. Mace was in the shower and I’d used the only towel in the bathroom. Shit.

I ran upstairs as fast as I could to grab one. Apparently, I wasn’t fast enough, because as I rounded the corner, he was walking toward the kitchen wearing nothing but a smirk. The pile of towels I had been holding dropped to the floor. My jaw slack, my eyes followed his very naked, very firm ass as he casually strolled to the fridge, opened it and pulled out a beer. Turning as he popped the cap, he cocked an eyebrow and asked, “You want one, babe?”

Void of any coherent thought, I just stood there gaping like a fish out of water.

“Take that as a no then.” He scratched his chest and strolled by, dropping a kiss on my forehead as he passed. “Love them PJs. Love to take ‘em off too, but I’ve gotta get some shut eye. Night, babe.” Mace flopped down on the couch and got himself comfortable.

There were so many good quotes to this book. This book captured me right from the beginning. Chapter One, you are introduced to Scarlett. Muscle Car driving, tattoo parlor owner, feisty hell on wheels bad ass chick. I loved her instantly, she's funny, head strong and tells it like it is. She owns the shop and her two buddies work there with her. That's where Trip comes in, he's her best friend and fellow tattoo artist, tall, dark and HOT! Teeny (Scarlett's female best friend) comes into the shop to get a piercing from Trip. The tension between Trip and Teeny is unmistakable and you know that there will be more to their story later. 

Enter Mace: Six foot three, broad muscular frame, solid and toned, aqua-blue eyes, slightly olive skin. He sounds like sex on a stick! He walks into the parlor and instantly Scarlett turns to a gooshy girl, which she doesn't do. She's a tough girl who doesn't let men affect her, yet one look from Mace and she's gone. Did I mention that Mace is ex-military and inked all over. I'm still picking my chin up off the floor and mopping up the drool. 

Mace has secrets, Scarlett has a wall that she's put up to protect herself from the damage falling in love can cause. Mace is determined to break down those walls, while Scar is determined to keep them up. This book isn't all serious, there is a scene where Teeny and Scar go out to the bar and Scar drunk dials Mace. This is one of the funniest scenes of drunken behavior I've seen written. I was laughing my ass off and snorting through this part. Teeny: "I'm a gonna go to studs-r-us, and buys myself a Mace. Noooo, not a Mace a Trip. Oh, where do all the hot guys live? At studs-r-us, yeah! OH HEY, studs-r-us..." Scarlett: "I wanna lick your face, Mace-Ha! I made a funny, face-Mace, face-Mace. I rhymb-rhyms-I rhymed."  Oh this goes on and on. I freaking love these two ckicks. I think we could have lots of fun together. 

So you know it can't be all love and hearts and flowers and drunken escapades. The drama starts shortly after this, I will tell you this. At one point I had to grab the tissues and hold on for the ride. It's one hell of a ride too. This author was able to keep me gripping my Kindle, holding my breath, laughing my ass off and crying. I started this book after taking my son to school and finished it just as he was getting home. I could not put this one down. I fell in Love with all of the characters and can't wait for Trip's story.
