Review: Melody of the Heart by Katie Ashley

Title: Melody of the Heart (Runaway Train #3.5)
Author: Katie Ashley
Add to Goodreads

As the Runaway Train family gathers in Savannah, Georgia for the wedding of its last single member, Rhys McGowan, to Allison Slater, Jake's little sister, Rolling Stone magazine prepares an issue to celebrate the union. While focusing on the happy couple, they also sit down with Brayden and Lily Vanderburg for a feature on successful rock star marriages. After all, the two have been a couple since they were sixteen years old. But there is more to the story than meets the eye, and their love took a slight detour before finding happily ever after.

Told in flashbacks from the present to the past, Brayden and Lily share the story of their unbreakable love.

Review

What can I say? This book tore me up, in a good way. I loved going back in time and experiencing Brayden and Lily's story. They were the couple that we'd heard about in all the other books, but really didn't know that much about. It really was a perfect way to end the Runaway Train series.

Brayden was the one that was a mystery to me. He totally melted my heart in the other books. He was so kind, and fatherly to the girls. I really was surprised to see his story come out. I really could have smacked him for what he did, but I forgave him just as Lily did.

I am so overcome with emotions right now. Reading this book was like reliving the end of the show Friends for me. I've read all their stories, fell deeply in love with the men and respected the ladies in these books. Katie Ashley did a superb job in ending a series. Taking us back in time to the beginning and giving us the details of the relationship that we all hope to have. A love that conquers all. That is why I loved this book so much. It shows us the strength of her characters and that with love, preservation and determination, you really can have it all.

My favorite line from the book was spoken by Brayden: "But you gave me the melody I never knew I had." He took my hand in his and brought it to his chest. "The melody straight from my heart." And this ladies is where my crying turned into a full on ugly cry that would make grown men run and hide.

Thank You, Katie Ashley for the entire Runaway Train series, and for telling such a beautiful love story. Bravo! 5 Stars!

Review of Tattoos and TATAS by Tara Sivec

Title: Tattoos and TATAS

Author: Tara Sivec

Review

Tara Sivec is my go to author when I need a laugh. Her books are ones that can bring me out of the darkest time and make me laugh. She didn't let me down with this one. The only thing I wasn't expecting were all the tears I shed. I was laughing along with the characters one minute and ugly crying the next. It may be because I've read the entire Chocolate Lovers and Chocoholics series, so the characters feel like family to me. Or, maybe it is because of the way Tara writes the story. You feel Liz's struggle and heartbreak. I related to her in so many ways. I too am a fixer and I am inappropriate as Hell when I'm nervous. Tara took a serious situation and made it real. It isn't all sad and dark, and sometimes that's what people need. They need to laugh in Cancers face and say, "Screw You. I'm gonna kick your %@$!"

Thank You, Tara Sivec from someone whose mother is terminal. I needed this book to remind me to laugh, if not for me, for her. Another great book that I recommend anyone to read. ~Jen

*Cover Reveal* Killer Queen by L.H.Cosway

We are pleased to share with you the cover for Killer Queen, the companion novel to Painted Faces by L.H. Cosway, scheduled for release on October 20th. Isn't it gorgeous?!
LHCKillerQueenCover6x9-NEW
Synopsis
Willkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome… Come inside The Glamour Patch club to see the star of our show, Miss Vivica Blue. Do you want to read my diary you nosy little devils? Have a glass of champagne (you’ll need it) and get comfortable because you’re in for some crazy shenanigans brought to you straight from the horse’s mouth. I can be whatever you want me to be: boy, girl, a little bit of both. If you have a problem with a man in a dress then best be off with you. If males in make-up give you the willies, then I’ll say au revoir and don’t let the door hit you on the way out. So, who are we left with? Ah, a fine collection of curious souls. I want to tell you a tale of love, because those are the most glorious kind. I want to tell you about real love, a love that transcends labels and gender stereotypes. The moment I first laid eyes on my Freda I knew that we were kindred. Well okay, I also knew I wanted to get into her pants, but that’s beside the point. My world was a grey place. I was at my lowest ebb. Then she came along and patches of colour began to spring forth. One day the daffodils were yellow and before I knew it, colour was everywhere, lighting up my life. Love is not about how we appear on the outside, it’s about the soul contained within. Our story was not a conventional one, but it was ours, and that’s what made it shine. Killer Queen is a companion novel to L.H. Cosway’s contemporary romance, Painted Faces. It contains scenes that take place before, during and after the original story. It can also be read as a standalone. Cover Designed by: Letitia from Romantic Book Affairs add-to-goodreads-button   Killer Queen Teaser_Cover Reveal   Excerpt I was immediately happy to be left alone with my most recent object of attraction, and tried to think of a way to endear myself to her. She seemed a little defensive, and I didn’t like it. She was focused intently on stirring a pot of simmering bolognaise, not paying me any notice. Deciding to take the bull by the horns, I walked across the room and stepped up right behind her, taking her by the hips and affectionately resting my head on her shoulder. Sometimes, forcing physical closeness with women worked for me. Not that kind, I’m not completely depraved. Often though, women liked it when I took them into my arms for a hug or pulled them onto my lap to sit. Unfortunately, Fred’s entire body went ramrod straight the moment I touched her. I instantly regretted the move, but at the same time I didn’t. Her supple hips felt good beneath my palms. “Smells delicious, Fred,” I told her, brazenly giving her a squeeze. It was ridiculously inappropriate, but I wanted a reaction out of her. Needed one. Still, she barely moved and instead gave me a one word reply, “Yep.” I leaned closer, allowing my breath to whisper across the back of her neck. She shivered and I think I saw her breath hitch, which made me grow a little hard. “The wine cost twenty Euros, and I got it from the off-licence down the road.” “Oh, very la di da, Viv. You must be a big spender.” I grinned, liking how she was subtly taunting me by continuing to call me by a woman’s name. “You like calling me Viv, do you?” “What can I say, feminine blokes really do it for me.” Enjoying this interaction, I decided to up the ante a level…or twenty. I spoke low and quick into her ear. “I can do that, if it's what you're into. In fact, I can be whatever you want me to be. I don't think it is, though. I think you're the kind of woman who likes a man to take the lead.” Then I pulled her hips back into mine. The feel of her soft arse flush against my cock did wonderful things. Wonderful things. I was having visions of throwing her over my shoulder and carrying her into my apartment so that I could have my wicked way with her. Unfortunately, my forwardness was not taken in the manner I had intended. Pulling swiftly out of my hold, she lifted up her stirring spoon and pointed it at me, as though it were a weapon that would keep me at arm’s length. “Okay. Listen here, back the hell up or I'll knee you in the balls.”   LHCKillerQueenCover6x9_BW_355-NEW

Title: Strip back: Eric's Story (Naked Nights #0.5)

Author: Ava Manello
Cover Design: Margreet Asselbergs

Hosted by: Francessca's Romance Reviews

Synopsis

Strip Back brings you back to how the Naked Night's began. This is Eric's story. Back when life was a little less polished, and a whole lot harder.

Before there was Strip Teaser, there was Eric; manager and founder of the Naked Night’s male stripper troupe.

You wouldn’t think you’d be past it at 34, but that’s the position Eric found himself in, as well as newly single after finding his girlfriend in a compromising position.

Setting up the Naked Night’s wasn’t easy, it wasn’t fun, and it wasn’t without sleaze, but somehow he did it.

Strip Back is a humorous and steamy tale of one man’s journey to fulfill a dream. Not all male strippers are the same.

Tour Stop: Take (Temptation #2) by Ella Frank

Synopsis

TAKE – verb: to reach for and hold in one’s hands or get into one’s possession, power or control.

Logan Mitchell is a man who’s always been more than happy to take what he wants. It’s a philosophy that’s proven lucrative in both his business and personal life, and never was it more apparent than the night he laid eyes on Tate Morrison. After pulling out all the stops and convincing the sexy bartender to give him a try—he’s hooked.

Now, Logan finds himself in a predicament that demands more from him than a smart-ass answer and his innate ability to walk away when things get too deep.

He has a choice to make, and it’ll force him to do something he’s never done before—take a chance.

Tate Morrison knows all about taking a chance. He took the biggest one of his life the night he showed up at Logan’s apartment to explore his unexpected reaction to the man.

Ever since then, he’s thought about little else.

At first he was convinced his attraction was based solely on his body’s curiosity. But the more time he spends with the silver-tongued lawyer, the more Tate realizes that their physical chemistry is only the beginning.

He’s starting to catch a glimpse of what life with Logan would be like, and it’s one full of excitement and satisfaction—a far cry from what he had in the past with his soon to be ex-wife.

Each man will face their fears as they begin to understand the true meaning of give and take. Their feelings for one another will be tested, as will their very beliefs. But now that they’ve found love where they least expected it, will they be brave enough to reach out and take it?

Excerpt

“That’s your truck?”

“Yes.”

“It’s so…”

“So what?” Logan challenged as he pulled his keys from his pocket.

“Old?”

“Excuse me. I’ll have you know I was driving this baby all through college and she still runs like a dream.”

Tate watched as Logan walked over to run his hand over the scratched-up tailgate, and he was amazed that he even made that look sexy. Like he was stroking a lover.

“And it’s a she, huh?”

Now around at the passenger’s side, Logan opened the door and looked at him over the bed of the truck. “Yeah. Jealous?”

Laughing, Tate walked over to where Logan stood with a hand on the door and kissed him slowly on the mouth.

“I’m jealous of anything you stroke like that.”

“Get in the truck, Tate.”

“Or else?”

Logan stepped forward, crowding him back against the inside frame of the vehicle. “You’re not ready for the or else…”

Review

As I write this review, I'm listening to the Take Playlist on Spotify and it's making me feel all the emotions again. I loved Try and fell in love with Logan and Tate, but Take is more intense and I really connected with Tate. I have a huge hangover from this book. The ending was perfect, but it left me wanting more. This is a very good thing.

"In the middle, on your knees. No touching, It's my turn to watch you."
I loved seeing Tate come out of his shell and find his true self. I also like his domineering personality. He really developed in this book and I loved it! He will really surprise you. My heart broke and I cried for Tate and what he had to endure.

Logan, my dear, sweet, dirty, Logan. I loved him before and I love him even more now. His development in Take was fantastic. He let his walls down and showed us just how vulnerable he really is. I'm torn in which Logan I love more. The take charge, dirty mouthed Alpha, or the sweet, submissive, vulnerable one. I just love him!

Ella Frank did a fantastic job with their story and their character development. She knows how to write M/M so that you get sucked right in and can't stop reading. She writes with so much emotion that you get attached to the characters and you feel like you're invading their privacy.Take is Amazing and I'd recommend these boys to anyone wanting to give the M/M Genre a Try.
I give Take by Ella Frank 5 Stars! ~Jen
